Organizing is a personalized task, and there’s no need to blindly follow trends or ‘wholesale’ storage boxes. Here are some low-cost storage methods for the kitchen that are just as effective!
01. Cabinet Door Storage: I have attached several hooks to the inside of my kitchen cabinet doors, using shopping gift bags or paper bags to store lighter items such as strainers and trash bags. This method not only saves space and avoids clutter but also makes use of existing items.
02. Adjustable Shelves Storage: My seasonings are stored in a small cabinet, which I have divided into two levels using adjustable shelves. The upper level is for bagged seasonings, and the lower level is for bottled ones. After each use, simply put them back in their place.
03. Hanging Trash Cans: Previously, trash cans were placed on the ground, and disposing of vegetable scraps required bending over or squatting down. Now, with hanging trash cans mounted on the cabinet, it’s a breeze. They keep the floor clean and spare your back!
04. Moderation in Using Storage Boxes: While storage boxes can be useful, it’s not recommended to overuse them. Sometimes, when you store everything in boxes, you may forget what’s inside over time. Instead, regularly organize your items at home, determine which ones need boxes, and which can simply be placed in the cabinet for a clear and organized storage solution.
My Organizing Insights:
1. If you can’t achieve a minimalist lifestyle, it’s okay. Just make sure your items are ‘fully utilized.’ For example, many girls like to collect gift bags, so make use of them for storage. When they become old or damaged, you’ll naturally let go of them.
2. Hang what you can instead of placing on countertops. This has been mentioned many times and can make your home much more convenient.
3. Consider the multi-layered nature of space. Space is three-dimensional, so when your lower space is full, consider creating ‘new’ space for it!
